Monthly Conservation Tips - January

January

New year, new garden! Summer may be a ways off, but now is a great time to start thinking about what you’d like your garden to look like this year. Replacing portions of grass with stone features and choosing native and drought-tolerant plants can help you save water. Get inspiration here:

Put your design ideas down on paper and look into vendors that may have the plants and features that you want. Alternatively, consult with a landscaping business about your design ideas.

Check for leaks. Did you know that leaks can account for up to 12 percent of indoor water use? Kick the new year off with an action that helps your household and your community reduce water waste: checking for leaks. Check for dripping faucets and showerheads, and try dropping some food coloring or a dye tablet in your toilet tank to see if it leaks through to the bowl. Then fix any leaks you find. If you need help with repairs, call a hardware store or a plumber.
