Committees and Commission
The City Council appoints citizens to committees and boards to advise the Council on certain decisions and policy matters. These dedicated citizens meet on a regular basis to address current issues and look for ways to make Fairview an even better place to live and work.
Commission / Committee Openings: Brief Description
- Budget Committee / 1 position: reviews the proposed budget each fiscal year and makes a recommendation on the budget to the City Council for final adoption. Typically meets the last Monday in April and first two Monday’s in May.
- Economic Development Advisory Committee / 1 position: makes recommendations to the City Council regarding economic development needs in the city. Areas include promoting the economic interests of existing business enterprises, promoting new business, encouraging private sector job growth, and policy guidance to the council on matters of economic development. Meets once a month.
- Planning Commission / 2 positions: charged with the express duty of administering and enforcing the Zoning Ordinance of the city of Fairview. Is a seven member body appointed by the Fairview City Council. Position 6 is open with a term date of 12/31/2022 and Position 5 is open with a term date of 12/31/2021. The application deadline has been extended to Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Candidates must complete an interview to be considered for appointment. Council is tentatively scheduled to conduct candidate interviews August 19, 2020.
